Join CVAN NW at its Climate Springboard Day on Friday 19 May at Turnpike Gallery in Leigh to help amplify connections between visual arts, civic participation and ecological restoration.
In the morning, sessions will start with keynote addresses, one from Vimla Appadoo of Greater Manchester Local Enterprise Partnership, followed by three themed discussion groups:
- How can the arts inform and benefit from local policy innovation, mitigating climate change and enriching social narratives?
- Values: where are the crossovers between social, cultural and environmental values? How can shared research and evaluation strengthen interdisciplinary projects?
- Resilience in our coastal communities & seas? Sharing learning and thinking through gaps in understanding and applied research potential.
In the afternoon, guided walks by Natural England, botanist Josh Styles and artist Rebecca Chesney, will introduce artists and workers in the cultural sector to the restored grasslands on the Flashes in their springtime glory.
Please book separately for the walk which is 1.30-4.30 pm
If you can’t make the morning session but would like to join us in the afternoon for the walk, you are welcome to arrive directly at Pennington Flash no later than 1.30pm or to join us for lunch at the Turnpike Gallery at 12.45pm with transport to the flash after.
