At Longsight Art Space, an exhibition of paintings, sculpture and digital work

LIMBS OF THE LUNAR DISC
Sarah Al-Sarraj
Curated by Saman Rizwan
22 August — 22 September
Longsight Art Space

Limbs of the Lunar Disc, the first touring solo show by Sarah Al-Sarraj, brings together immersive film and narrative painting to explore alternative ways of understanding time.

The exhibition features:

Isthmus Ancient River (2025), a new immersive film commissioned by Helen Starr’s Mechatronic Library.

Separated by Millennia (2024), a series of narrative paintings commissioned by the Arab British Centre.

Through concepts of seasonality, quantum relativity and deep time, these works imagine ancestral and ecological futures beyond systems of capitalist imperialism. From a radioactive waste site reimagined as a temple, to mythic time-travelling nomads preserving biodiversity, the exhibition asks: how do we create intergenerational justice for those yet to come?

Co-commissioned by the Arab British Centre and Shubbak Festival, with support from Arts Council England and the Freelands Foundation.
