The Sacred Memory Bank
A collaborative exhibition of assemblage objects exploring our relationship with the passing of time at Kirkby Gallery
Together, Liverpool born artists Mike Badger and Jeff Young have drawn on their life experiences to create a series of assemblages, inspired to evoke that hidden world previously lost to us. Juxtaposing everyday items with written texts and collage, composition balances with emotion as the narrative unfolds.
The collections and placement of lost objects, totemic charms, images and curios are displayed here to transform, trigger and inspire as a form of physical poetry, reminding us of who we were and who we are now.
To complement the exhibition at Kirkby Gallery, there will be a programme of bespoke workshops led by the exhibiting artists, running on Thursday afternoons from 22 January until 12 March 2026. Join Jeff Young and Mike Badger and explore the use of writing and assemblage to unlock the memories held within objects. Whether it’s a pebble or an old photo, a brooch or a postcard, there is a story to unfold. Information will be available on the gallery and partner websites and social media.
