Heather Ross

I am originally from Hamilton, Scotland and now live and work in Preston, Lancashire. I have a multi-disciplinary practice, working as a solo artist and as part of the collaborative duo 'Artist A & Artist B' (with Dr. Jackie Haynes). My work is often in dialogue with past, historical and archival material which is then edited and re-worked using methods such as re-construction and re-enactment. I create scenarios through which details of my subjects can be scrutinized and unpacked, often seeking to generate a more embodied experience with a distanced subject, to reveal the source of my initial curiosity and its material, conceptual and social resonance. I’m drawn in by the potential of fragmented, incomplete and overlooked material and seek new narratives and forms through which my subjects can be re-imagined.
