Mark Devereux Projects is pleased to invite applications for Critical Mass / / PHOTO, a new intensive course for visual artists who use photography as a prominent medium within their practice. Critical Mass / / PHOTO is for practitioners who are seeking rigorous critical dialogue, professional development, mentoring and a supportive peer cohort.
Designed for artists at a pivotal stage in their practice, the course focuses on refining conceptual and visual language, developing longer-term projects and strengthening participants’ ability to articulate their work within a contemporary art and photographic discourse. Critical Mass / / PHOTO offers a space for discussion, learning, reflection and inspiration within a group of like-minded artists.
Experienced curator & mentor Mark Devereux, will share his extensive knowledge of fine art photography, having originally studied and practised within this field.
The Critical Mass / / PHOTO course programme will be tailored to each participant’s requirements and ambitions. Following selection, we will contact you with a short questionnaire which will directly influence the workshop themes.
Critical Mass / / PHOTO will include:
* 6 x fortnightly half-day online workshops
* 1 x away-day (in-person / full day) at Open Eye Gallery, Liverpool
* 1 x 1-hour online one-to-one mentoring session per artist

Course times: 9:30am-12:30pm
Course location: Online (Zoom) & in-person
FULL COURSE COST: £600 *
Payment options are available to spread the cost in instalments. There is no charge to apply.
* Additional course costs will include travel & accommodation for the away-day.
