Remember Nature Day 2025

Remember Nature 2025: A Call to Collective Action
Tuesday 4 November | Manchester

CVAN NW is proud to support Remember Nature 2025, a nationwide moment marking ten years since Gustav Metzger’s urgent call for artists to confront the climate crisis through creative action.

As one of 17 regional partners across England, Castlefield Gallery is working with commissioned Lead Artist Yu-Chen Wang to deliver a powerful programme of artist-led and self-led walks through Manchester—inviting reflection, connection, and renewed commitment to our natural world.

Walking Together for Change
On 4 November, Yu-Chen Wang will lead a walk beginning at 12:30pm from the Derek Jarman Pocket Park at Manchester Art Gallery.

Earlier in the day, local eco-activist Jane Morris will guide a walk as part of the SPARK Network event at Platt Fields and Hall, initiated by artist Phil Barton (10am–4pm).

These walks invite participants to engage with Manchester’s layered landscapes—its natural ecosystems, industrial past, and evolving urban fabric. Through shared movement and conversation, we’ll uncover stories, reflect on our place within the environment, and imagine new possibilities.

Gathering at Hulme Community Garden Centre
All routes will converge at Hulme Community Garden Centre, where we’ll come together over hot drinks and informal discussion. We’ll ask:
“What can we do to support nature—individually and collectively?”

We welcome contributions from artists, campaigners, scientists, and community groups. Confirmed participants include:

  • Wetlands scientists
  • Grass Routes
  • Trees Not Cars
  • Sustainable Communities Hulme
  • The Gaitskell Garden Project

This is an open invitation to listen, learn, and act—together. See here for more information and details on how to book your place.
